There was considerable joy and excitement felt by the ministers belonging to the monthly Westminster Fraternal when Lloyd-Jones joined them in their meeting on 9 October 1968, for the first time since he became ill. On this occasion, he shared in a personal way his experiences during his illness and convalescence over several months. Lloyd-Jones considered it appropriate and divinely planned that he had finished his Friday evening studies in Romans 14:17, prior to having surgery.
